The Royal Neighbor Club met at the home of Neighbor Rey nolds, 909 S. Syracuse street, on Wednesday, April 19, at an all day session. The day was spent piecing a quilt. A delightful din ner was served at noon, which every one present enjoyed. Those present were: Mesdames Olson, Seaton, Redlinger, A. Horry, Zimmerman, Iuyer, Har, Stuhr, Pigg.Deiidorson, Jones, Wymorc, "Wright, Free, Reynolds. Visitors present: Mesdames Hoyco, Ililli leer, Davis and Clark; children Juno Wymoro and Orville JJerry. The next meeting will be held with Neighbor Wright, 8!!8 N. Jersey street May 17th. Hop. Plans arc under way for Moth ers' Day services to be observed at the Community church May Mth. At the Christian Kudeav or Sunday evening one of the students from the University of Oregon Medical School who is preparing for medical missionary work will speak. The sermon thought for the evening service will he Practical Christianity. The Young People's Chorus will lead the song service and also sing a special number. The La dies' Aid will meet with Mrs. Or mandy on Willamette boulevard on Wednesday of next week. Reported. Again old times, when St. Johns was a separate municipality, aro called to mind by the fact that the city council has just author ized and directed City Treasurer Adams to call in and. pay otf two lots of municipal improvement bonds issued by the former city of St. Johns. One of these lots is numbered from (122 to (Ml in clusive, and the other is number ed from (iii2 to (iX, and they are to be paid from the improvement bond sinking fund. Orcgoniau. An entertainment which prom ises to be one of the best over staged in tho St. Johns district will be given on Thursday even ing, May 4th, at James John High School under tho auspices of the Williams, Sitton and George school Parent Teacher Associa tions. Included on the program will be musical numbers by pu pils from each of the different schools, and a feature which will be of interest to tho entire com munity will be an illustrated lec ture by T. J. Mouahnn on Pio neer Days in St. Joints. Mr. Monahan needs no introduction to the St. Johns community. Ho has been on the Peninsula for 40 years and from his knowledge of events as they have transpired in this community from the time lie came here until the present witli the aid of slides which have been made from pictures taken as tho town grew, nn interesting as well as instructive evening will bo spent. The tea party given by the La-di-1' Aid of the Community church at tho home of Mrs. J. 0. Hi. Hoy last week Wednesday was well attended. About thirty were' entertained through the nf noon. Simple but delicious re freshments were served and all had a very pleasant time. Next Wednesday afternoon, May Urd, the Aid will meet with Mrs. W. S. Ormandy, DO I S. Willamette boulevard. Wo will have our business mooting at this time. All aro urged to be present. Rep. Apple growers and shippers and other fruit growers of the Northwest and the agricultural committee of the Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Public Dock Commission last week with strong arguments for the installation of cold storage facilities on Municipal Terminal No. A. They argued that with cold storage facilities here they will be better able to ship their fruit and other perishable prod ucts to market without danger of damage. Representatives were present from Oregon, Washing ton, Idaho and Montana. The dock commission took the matter under advisement. "What do you want with me?" asked the indignant motorist when she was ordered to stop. "You were traveing at forty miles an hour? Why 1 haven't been out. an hour!" said the wo man.
