The Mothers' meeting of the W. C. T. U. was held at the home of Mrs. Marchand, 1107 S. Ivanhoe street. .Mrs. uil bert, county president, was a visitor and gave an interesting report of the W. C. T .U. Farm Homo, near Corvallis, which will bo ready for occupancy early in May. Tho St. Johns branch of the W. C. T. U. is pledged to pay for one acre of this farm, which -will bo $200. Loyal support of an enterprise so worthy should be given by our community. Tho Bible study was most ably conducted by Mrs. Williams. A paper on the life and works of Prances E. Willard was read by Mrs. Kerr. Other subjects of im portance were (liscusswl. A pleasant feature of the after noon was a solo. That these meeting are proving bene ficial is shown by tho increase in interest and attendance. Clarence Tooley is spending a few weeks with his parents in St. Johns. For the past year he has been engaged with an engineering corps at Lake View, Oregon. Deborah Livingstone of St. Johns was quite enthused over winning the banner by having the largest attendance nt the County Institute on Thursday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Oilliard, (IK! N. They arc quite interested in tho success of the local hospital, realizing that it is a line institution for this sec tion, and thoy beleve all the em ployers and employes on tho Peninsula should boost for it. There is no excuse for telephon ing Portland for an ambulance, and causing unnecessary delay, when an uptodnto hospital is at your door. Miss Kavanaugh has worked faithfully for tho afflicted and deserves tho sup port of tho people of St. Johns. C. E.
