Mr. and Mrs. Chauucey Barney of 834 North r.disoti street have re ceived the news of tiie death of his nephew, Orral Vanderhoof, at his home in Tacoma, The deceased was well known in the Sellwood dis trlct and at Troutdalc, where in termeut will take place in Douglas cemetery. He lias resided In Trout dale since he was about 12 years old. G. Allan Rutherford, a member of the class of '16 of the James John High School, has returned to the O, A. C, after having been ab sent for two quarters. He is re gaining his place in student activi ties. Rutherford is doing night work on the O. A. C. Barometer, the college semi-weekly publica tion, aud is also corresponding for the Christian Science Monitor. He is going out for the varsity track team later. Attend the Community Club meeting at the club rooms of the Portland Woolen Mills next Tues day evening at G:30. A fine enter tainment will be rendered. Dinner will be served at the above hour. Included in the fine program will be a solo by Lieut. Crane, solos by Miss Lola Murphy aud Mrs. Iof- gren, reading by Mrs. Alta Reessell and an address by a prominent speaker. There will also be other very Interesting features that none can afford to miss. Make it a point to attend. Jack Wood, who has been in charge of the Simon's store since the change in ownership, and who has made many friends during his stay here, has been transferred to one of Simon s other stores in Port land, and W. J. Forsythe will here after have charge of the St. Johns store. The new manager was with the Sunset Grocery for two years and has been with the Simons' store ever since. The agitation against the dance, flourishing in many spots, includ ing our own rose-speckled metropo lis, is proper, but muddled by professional reformers. The Whitney Boys Chorus will give a musical program Friday evening, February 3rd, at 7:45 p. in. ut the Congregational church. At present there are 81 members enrolled in St. Johns aud at least 50 of these are expected to slug nt this program. Prof. Whitney, the found er of the chorus, will nlso be there. All boys are urgently requested to be at the church in their white waists nud red ties at 7 P- m. Kverybody is invited to attend. No admission will be charged, but n collection will be taken to help the chorus aud the welfare of the boys.
