In the passing of Dr. Cook this community has sustained no little loss. An honorable, un right man, fair and considerate in his dealings with his fellow man and a straight forward, exemplary citizen. As a public official on theolu St. JohnB city council he made an admirable representative. Possessed in a large degree of good common aonse and level headedness, and having the couragoof his convic tions, coupled with a high re gard for the duties of his office, he evor commanded the respect of his fellow officials, and he served the community faithfully. honorably and well in his official capacity. As a privato citizen and a husband and father his lifo wna all that could be de sired, and his kindly, philo Bopmcai nnturc and cheering presence will be remembered long after helms passed to his reward in the better world be yond. Such men as Dr. Cook tend to make the world better and purer, and the community in which they reside are im measurably benefited by their having lived in it. Hut his ruce is run, his course is ended, and his spirit has winged its (light to participate in and enjoy the delight and happiness in the broader and brighter world be yond. t "Hotter streets in St. Johns" should be the watchword for the coming Spring and Summer. Some of the streets should be paved; others resurfaced and re paired, and the less traveled thorough lares could he toned up and placed in a Mir morcnroHoiiL- able and pussable condition with the uid of a scraper and a few yards of crushed rock.
