Wickman who was recently operated upon ut the Portland Surgical Hospital, is getting along nicely. Jack Rogers, son of Mr. aud Mrs. W. V. Rogers, was operated upon for appendicitis last week aud is get ting along in fine style. Funeral of I.etha lilrrell will be held from the Hvaugcllcal Church at 2 p. in Friday. Friends invited. Interment to be held tit Mt. Scott Mrs. D. F. ' Horsmau, who rc ccutly had the misfortune to slip on the basement steps at her home aud fell, sustaining a broken arm, is getting along nicely. The violent wind of last week was the cause of destroying the windows in the Henderson building adjoining the Review office and a window in the Review office. Mrs. Mabellc Gordon Is building a handsome bungalow on Central avenue. Smith and Griffith are the architects. They nre also erecting a bungalow on the same street for R. C. Hasho. Mrs. N. C. Johnson, nfler a ser ious operation nt the Iitnnmicl Hos pital, where she hod been for over six weeks, has returned to her home at 833 N. Leonard street. She is re covering nicely but not yet oble to be out. Mrs. C. II Iloyd is ill at home on Rodney avenue. Her many St Johns friends hope for nn enrly anil com plete recovery. Her husbnud for merly was principal of the St. Johns schools, and is now principal of n Portland school. Kemember the Charity Ball to bo given by the Bachelor Club in the skating rink tho evening of December lCth. The cause is u most worthy one and should receive the hearty support of our people. It will also be u treat to lovers of dancing. The Pythian Sister Altruistic Club will meet nt the home of Sister J.M. Blair, 724 Oberliu, Dec. 13. Out of n total of 38 arrests in tl e month of November, Patrolman Nut ter and Harms, working under Cap tain Circle of the day relief, brought into the city treasury $1647 .50 in fines. Harms and Nutter are work ing on vice cases. They arrested 14 persons for violating the prohibition law, five for vagrancy, eight for gambling and four for being drunk, in addition to several other minor violations. A social event of last week was an informal dinner party given by Mr and Mrs A A. Poff, assisted by Mrs K L Maxfield, at the home of the latter oil Charleston stftet ' The table was artistically decorated, the color scheme being worked out in shades of red and cream Mr Poff proved to be a delightful and experienced host, when it came to carving and serv ing the National bird . After dinner cards were enjoyed until a late hour. The Church of the Assumption will hold a bazaar in the French block from December 12th to the 17th.
