GREETINGS:
Your response to my invitation to call on this store under its new management
was very gratifying. I hope to see many of you here again and often.
Through this paper I shall from time to time tell you what I am trying to do and
just what the advantages will be to you if you buy at least sortie of your furniture here.
I'm not looking for all tho furniture business in St. Johns. I'm not vain enough
to ask for it nor genius enough to handle it. Besides there are other good men who are
entitled to your patronage. But St. Johns is growing. Its community spirit is getting
stronger. More St. Johns people aro buying more goods in St. Johns. There should be
a great deal more of that. It will come. I'm looking ahead. I only want my fair
share of business. But first I'm going fo provo to you that I am worthy of that
business.
Some men make money by fanciful charges for fanciful service to people who de-
mnnd it. Neither you nor I am that kind. Other men make large profit on a few sales
of high priced goods. There isn't room for that kind in St. Johns. Then there aro bus
iness men who are satisfied with a small profit on tho Individual salo and must
make tholr monoy on a large number of salos. I have elected myself to this class.
There's satisfaction in giving satisfnetion to large numbers of worthy folks. Now, my
patient friend, you may forget all else I have said if you will just remember this:
Your money Is less important to me than your satisfaction. Whatever price you pay
for a piece of furniture, you may be sure that's the best ypu can get for that price and more
value fer your dollar than you'll get any place else In Portland. That's the service I offer.
