On Sunday morning, June 12th, a fine Children's Day program will be given. Any one desiring their children baptized at that time please arrange before hand with the pastor. New members are expected to unite with the church. Saxaphone and violin duets will assist largo choir which is growing. A large ap preciative audience filled the Conrgegational church at last Sunday's Memorial exercises. Excellent music by large choir and profusion of flags and flow ers added inspiration to the service.- Reported. Next week Is the Rose Festival and it will undoubtedly attract nu merous hosts to Portland. Minera Chapter No. 105, O. E. S., will have a Special Com munication on Tuesday evening, June 7th. Rev. C. P. Gates desires tho services of a few boys in as sisting to gather moss for use in decorating the float Tuesday. The missionaries of tho Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will hold a cottage meet ing at 524 E.Mohawk street this Friday.evening at 8 o'clock. All welcome. Mrs. II. A. Persons has returned to St. Johns and after enjoying a visit with her daughter, Mrs. A. II. kcrr, is taking up her resi dence at the corner oi Polk Street and Willamette Boulevard. Next Tuesday is election day and one of the important measures is that of creating world-war veterans State aid fund and providing choice of cash bonus of $15 a mouth or loan In sums not to exceed $4,000. It should pass unanimously. Sunday at 1 p. m. the corner stone for the new church of the Assumption will be laid with ap propriate ceremonies. The new edifice in situated on Smith avenue near Buchanan nud will be one of the finest of its kind in the city. Most Rev. Archbishop Christie, Most Kcv. Archbishop Casey, and Very He v. Fr. Burke, O. S. M., will participate. The members of the "Big Four" Holy Name Socie ty, Knights of Columbus and oth ers will aggregate in St. Johns and march in procession accompanied by the K. of C. baud, to the Cath olic church grounds, when the cer emonies will begin.
