The Bacholor Club ball team
registered another win when
they downed Montavilia 98 on
their grounds last Sunday. While
this was not the best exhibition
of tho National pa3timq, it was
the moat hotly contested game
"of tho season with the club boys
leading tho way. Montavilia
threw a scare into the Bachelors
when they chased two runs over
the plate in the first inning. Tie
Becond frame was a whirlwind
with some w ord base ball on
tho part of Montavilia and plenty
of free hitting from thj liacho
lors. During this inning four
runs wcro chalked up which put
the lead with the club players.

ment of the third inning had
rolled away and with a lead of
four runs it looked as though an
easy win was in sight. Monta
vilia showed plenty of fight from
this time on, while that of tho
Bachelors diminished, and when
tho eighth Inning was marked
up the scoro stood 8 8. In the
ninth tho club players put over
the winning run after two were
out on Larson's double nnd a
Hingle by "Cupio"' Poff. Mont
avilia did not threaten during
their last trip to the plate. Tho
olliciul records show that two of
the winners fanned while twelve
of tho loses took three unpro
ductive swings. "Cupto" Poff,
catching his first gamo of tho
year, performed in superb style
nnd was a tower of strength for

Work will soon start on com
pletion of largo additions to tho
plant of tho Peninsula Lumber
company. Tho additions include
an entirely now saw mill, dry
kiln, planing mill, drying shed,
dock, uxtension of tho storage
yards and railway trackage. Al
together tho new construction
will cost approximately $750,000.
Ths new development is located
north of tho presont mill, and
will prove a great boon to tho
Peninsula.

erected on Smith avenue near

to be one of the finest edifices
