Mr. Hord lias disposed or his residence at the corner of I vim hoe and Mohawk streets and has gone to Corvallis. The St. Johns Cash Mavket has undergone some attractive alterations and improvements, and presents a most pleasing and inviting appearance. A miniature manger of Deth lehem has been loaned the St. Johns library for Christmas week. Take the children to sec this beautiful cicche of the Christ child. Mrs. Pangborn and children have been in Mcdrord for (he past couple of months, ami where her health has vast ly improved. Win. Pelerson of White Sal mon, Wash,, and well known to a number of people here, where he worked during the sbipbuild inu activity, died at (he Van couver hospital December lf(h. He was well liked by all who knew him. Paralysis was (he cause of his death. The Episcopal Christmas service will be held Saturday mornini! at 1) o'clock at Hick- ner's hall, aud will consist of the celebration of the Holy Communion aud a sermon by (he vicar, the Hev. John D. nice. The Children's Christinas serv ice and entertainment will be held Sunday afternoon at the hall at !J o'clock. To this serv ice both young aud old are in vited. Samuel Wickwire of 13,1 East Buchanan street died December 13th of heart trouble. He was born in Homney, Ontario, Can ada, in 1800, aud had resided in St. Johns lor the past three" years. He is survived by Ids widow and one son, Henry Wickwire. The funeral took place December 15th at 3 p. in. from Miller & Tracey's under taking parlors. Interment in Hose City cemetery. During the past year the membership has been increased sixty. Christine Toole died at her home, 1122 N. Central Ave., St. Johns, Portland, Oregon, Sun day morning, December 19, 1020, at 11 o'clock, after an illness of two months. She was a student of the James John high school. She was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. M. Toole of this city, being 10 years old. She is sur vived by mother and father and the following brothers: Thorn ton, Charles and Nicolle of this city, Joseph of Klamath Falls, Ore., Clarence of Lakeview, Ore., and the following sisters: Althea of this city, Mrs. Chas. Celmer of Sas Francisco, Cal., Nellie of Summer Lake, Ore., Anna of Myrtle Creek, Ore. The funeral services will be held from the St. Johns Under taking parlors Thursday after noon, December 26, at l:oU o'clock. H. E. Mclnlire is able to be about again after having his leg severely burned about six weeks ago. Verne Mackey had the mis fortune to sprain his neck quite severely while at play last Sat urday. The sewing, gymnasium and millinery classes at (he Y. W. C. A. have been postponed until after the holidays. Miss Arline Shaw is home from school at Seattle for the holidays. Her mother, Mrs. J. M. Shaw, went lo Seattle the latter part of last week and ac companied her home. Dunn of Portland made interesting addresses on Moosehearl. There were more than 200 in attendance and Ihe hall was finely decorated for the occasion. William Henry Wirth was born in Kansas July 7th, 1898, and died at Kalama, Wash., Dec. 12, 1020, at the age of 22 years, five mouths and five days. He with his parents came to Portland in 1007 and made his home here In the St. Johns dis trict until last spring when the fam ily moved to Kalama, With the coming of the death angel release came to a brave and suffering spir it. For more than two years he had suffered from an incurable mal ady. All that loyal hands could do or loyal hearts could prompt was done for him, but without avail; slowly but surely he failed. The sorrow of tne period of his illness will be softened for his friends and loved ones by the memory of the brave spirit with which he met each day, and the sadness of part ing will be somewhat relieved by by the memory of the faith In which he went down into the val ley of the shadow. He will be missed by a host of .friends. The St. Jobni Christian church espe cially, of which he was a member. will miss him from the usual gath ering oi the young people of the church.
