When St. Jolins was taken over by the city of Portland over five years ago Officers G. A. Roberts, F. H. Anderson and F. L. Had were assigned to the station. They are still on their beats and known to every man, woman and child as u friend and ad viser. The policy of the force has always been to make friends, prevent misdemeanors and crimes, settle neighborhood differences quietly and out of court when possible, but when necessary lo put duty before everything else. .1. 11. The facilities of the de partmeut arc limited and unless the work involved in issuing licenses' is distributed over a reasonable period car owners cannot expect to receive their license plates promptly. The Altruistic Club, Pythian Sisters, were entertained at the home of Mrs. Guy Boyd Tues day, Nov. .'JOlh, at an all-day session. I lie day was spem in quilling. Mrs. Brice, Mrs. Beckman, Mrs. Bell and Mrs. Blair entertained with Mrs. Boyd. The meeting before was with Mrs. Teeling, when plans were formulated for a Christ mas entertainment, which will be with Mrs. L. F. Clark Dec. Mth, when the boxes will be opened. Bath teams added four more points during the last half. Next Wednesday ovening tho Bachelor Club w meet tho Arlcta Club five on the Washington High floor in what promises to no an evenly con tested game. Saturday night Lena Crump proved a very successful hostess to tho 13th term class. The party vas a "juvonile" alTair, and children's games wero enjoyed by tho gucsta. Refreshments of animal cookies, all day suck ers nnd sherbet wero served to mako tho ovening complete. Mr. George was tho chaperon. Tuesday nn assembly wna call ed by tho student body president for the purpose of presenting two banners, one for progress which wiih won by tho third term class, nnd the second for scholarship, which was won by tho eight termers.
