Will Build More Houses
The Peninsula House Building
association, orgnnizod by of
ficials of the Peninsula National
bank and other St. Johns busi
ness men, proposes to solve the
housing problem in that section
of the city by supplying homes
at moderate prices on the easy
puyment plan. The association
is capitalized at $25,000 and as
an initial unit will erect lObun-
Kttlows costing nbout $2500 each.
Homes will bo sold on a contract
calling for a payment of 10 per
cent down and monthly install
ments of 1 percent with interest
at the rate of 7 per cent 4ier
annum on deferred payments.
Funds for additional building
will be secured by liquidation of
.mortgages on .homes sold. Ra
pid industrial expansion in the
St. Johns district has resulted
in u scarcity of dwellings, and
the new association proposes to
take care of present and future
needs. Architects' plans furn
ished by ho association call fr
bungalows of four and five rooms.
Standard, construction is used
throughout, and the homes will
sell at prices ranging from 2800
to $3000. The plan adopted by
tto 'Peninsula Houso Building
association for financing its
operation is similar in many re
resects to that used with consid
erable success by tlio Mortgages
Guarantee company, recently
organized hero by Robert K.
Smith, resident of the Title &
Trust company'. Journal.
I would bo true, for there are
those who trust me; 1 would be
purer, for there aro those who
care; I would bo strong, for
there is much to suffer; 1 would
bo bravo, for thcro is much to
dure; I would bo friend of all
the foe, tho friendless- I would
bo giving, and forget tho gift;
I would bo humblo, for I know
my weakness; I would look up
and laugh and love and lift.

discussed, but the idea of throw

across tho trnct was scarcely
suggested. Operating a suction
dredge to such a height hadn't
been done. "But we'll try it
anyway," announced Superinten
