T. J. Monahan made a few
interesting remarks concerning
the long ago. when Messrs.
Thompson and Powers camo to
St. Johns in 1002 seeking a site
for the woolon mill after fire
had destroyed tho Sellwood mill:
told how somo of the citizens
had stormod and criticised when
Mr. Monnhnn, then a membor of
tho first fat. Johns city council,
proposed vacating part of the
street for the erection of the
mill, oven though the street was
of no benefit to tho city. He
told what n Godaond tho woolen
mills had later proven to bo to
this community. He also told

D. Jones. It wns decided to
hold tho next meeting in tho
library, which will bo Tuesday
evening of next week at 8 o'clock.
