Lewis made an nd dross on tho Rooaevelt Memorial at the Woodstock school Monday aftornoon and at tho Central Bchool, St. Johns, Tuesday morning. Last Saturday afternoon a woodshed at tho home of 0. A. Jancks, 527 East Richmond atroot, caught firo, presumably from spontaneous combustion. Tho local fire department was soon on tho sceno nnd but iittlo damage was wrought. Mr. and Mrs. James McClellan of East Richmond street expect to loavo Saturday night for an extended trip through tho Middlo West, whero McClellan will ex hibit tho Pendleton Roundup pic tures and also pictures of scenic Oregon. They do not anticipate returning before Spring. John 0. Kocnecko died at his home, 424 East Richmond strcor, October 20th, of hemorrhago of tho lungs. Ho was aged C2 years and 25 days, and had resi ded in St. Johns for tho past four or fivo years. Ho ia sur vived by the widow, fivo sons and two daughters, throo of tho sons and ono daughtor residing in St. Johns. Tho funeral ser vices took place at tho chapel of tho St. Johns Undertaking Co. Tueiday afternoon at 2 o'clock, . Dr. Jones officiating. Tho body was shipped to Mill City, Ore gon, for intormont. On Wednesday ovaning Oct. 29th, at the St. Johns Library Mr. Willard A. Elliott will givo a talk with Stercopticon picluros on "Birds Around Portland." Mr. Elliott is viceprcsidont of tho Audubon Society and his wido knowledge of birds will make tho ovoning ono of enter talnrwint.- Ho has recently ro; turned from France, and whilo there studied tho birds of that country. Last Thursday evening the Bachelor club cave n "half and half" party in their new quar ters, upstairs in the McDonald building. A malo chorus of fivo, with strik ing costumes, presented a littio danco which made a noisy hit, boing encored several times. After a light lunch, dancing was indulged in till nearly midnight. Mr. I2d mondson is a pioneer business man of St. Johns, establishing his plumbing shop hero about fifteen years ago. and by good workmanship and fair treatment has enjoyed a good business over since. C. C. and. C. S. Currin, tho well known and enterprising local nhramacists, have recently associated themselves with several prominent Klamath Falls business men in incorporating tho Southern Oregon Drug Co.
