Will You Please Read This?
The writer of this ad. read an article in a recent issue of System
Magazine written by H. L. Baker. Among other good things in
article was the following short story which we give to the reader
because we know we are addressing a thinking public.
"A man tried to sell rue a horse once. He said it was a fine horse
aud had nothing the matter with it. I wanted a fine horse, but I
didn't know anything about horscs, uiuch, and I didn't know the man
very well either, so I told him I wanted to try the horse for a month.
He said: "All right, but pay me first, and I'll give you back your
money if the horse isn't all right. Well, I didn't like that. I was
afraid the horse wasn't "all right" and that I might have to whistle
for my money if I once parted with it. So I didn't buy the horse,
although I wanted it badly. Now this set me to thinking."
Our firm has been in business in St. Johns for thirteen years;
all of our horses have been sold on the "pay after you have tried
them policy." Many other concerns who have demanded their
money before parting with their "horses" have come and gone.
We began to trust the public from the day we started in busin
ess thirteen years ago. Any man or woman, boy or girl who comes
into our store is considered honest until he has proven himself
otherwise.
They all know that if our goods are not right they will certainly
be made so.
