In Portland, Oregon, ns umll matter
of the second class under the Act of Con
,;rcs8 of March 3, 1879.
Mr. Vncant Property Owner,
what nre you doing nboutcon
structing n dwelling on your
lot, and thus doing your bit to
ward relieving the stress for St.
Johns habitation' Are you do
ing anything, or contemplating
doing anything about it? Some
of the vacant lot owners arc now
completing plans to aid in the
movement for more now houses
in St. Johns. Why not you? If
you uro hesitating because of
lack of funds, the Peninsula Sc
ctirity Co. of St. Johns will help
you out. Ask Mr. Drinker about
it. From all indications, if Ave
hundred more houses were erect
ed in St. Johns this year, it is
assured that every one would
find a tenant. The local ship
plant at the present time has
more than 8000 employes on its
pay roll, with more being added
right along; the elevator system
is working three shifts and a
large number of men; the wool
en mills is greatly enlarging its
capacity, the Peninsula Iron
WorkB is running three shifts,
the saw mills, Portland Manu
facturing plant, the Cooperage
plant and other industries are
operating to full capacity, so
there is evidence in abundance
that vacant houses will not go
begging for tenants. Make your
vacant lot pay you an income,
and at the sumo time become a
public benefactor. The oppor
tunity is at hand seize it while
it may bo had.
The young men of today who
are making big wage could do
no bettor than invent a portion
of their money in lots in St.
Johns. They are bound to rapid
ly increase in value. It is prob
ably a fact that lots now Melting
for ?()() will bring $2r.00f twenty-five
years from now. Thin linn
happened in other parts of tin
city, and why not in Hi. Johns?
