THE ST. JOHNS REVIEW A. W. Mntklc, Kdltor PubllBbed Kvory Friday Subscription prloe $1.00 per year. Tub Khvikw Is entered nt post office In Portland. Oregon, as mall matter of tfae second class under the Act of Con rfress of March 3, 1879. The young man of today has an opportunity to make and suve money such as is seldom mot with in a life time. Many of the young men make on an average four dollars per day and work only eight hours. In fact some of them make as much money in eight hours as did their forefathers in half a week of labor from daylight to darkness in the harvest fields at most arduous toil. Much of this money should be saved and invested in a proper manner, iho time may come after while when such wages will not prevail. Make hay while the sun shines, und then save a generous quantity of the "hay." There is an almost impera tive need in this community for an active, vigorous and alert civic body that should, bo thoroughly representative in its nature. Especially at this time, when industries are seek ing locations, is a strong civic organization an important necessity. Such body should get in touch with and havu on hand data relative to suitable sites for industrial institutions in St. Johns. The available land, the size of the tracts, the exact location, the price and the terms should be a matter of record, so that any repre sentative of industrial concerns could ascertain all that he would desiro to know by call ing at the headquarters of this civic organization. Kvory time that announcement appears in the daily press or is otherwise' ascertained of a now industrial plant seeking a location, ar rangemnnts should be made so that a representative of the civic body could at once get in commmunication with Mm pro jectors, tell them what wo have to oirer and attract their atten tion to this locality. With iln incomparable and nature favor ed advantages from every view point, if placed before indus trial site seekers in its proper light could not fail to strongly appeal. With a view to being the means of rousing a spirit of enthusiasm and lively inter est along this line, Vardainan, the noted lecturer on commun ity upbuilding, has been secured to make an address in the high school auditorium Tuesday even ing, January 21)tli. Let every body turn out to hear him. It will bo well worth while. We all have a duty to perform in lending our utmost endeavors for the betterment of this com munity. Vardaman will tell us how.
