Emory Gillmore, who now has charge of the dispensary depart ment of one of Uncle Sam's base hospitals, with the title of sergeant, spent a few days in St. Johns the past week. Word from Chas. E. Garlick, who has been in the Uncle Sam's service since six months or more before war was de clared, states that he has been promoted to corporal. C. L. Magone has returned from a two weeks' trip in Mon tana, where ho spent much of the time in hunting and hshing. He is a member of the St. Johns Furniture Company and here after will devote all of his time to the furniture business. Mrs. Otis E. Learned this week received a cablegram from her brother, Sprague B. Marsh, stating that he had arrived safely "somewhere" in France.
