The recent Portland city elec tion is important to those out side of Portland from the fact that the electors by their votes indicated that they remain de termined in their opposition to experimental or freakish legis lation and increase of taxes when not absloutely necessary. Capi tal invested hero must feel eas ier, as the voter repeatedly ex presses himself for the protec tion of legitimate business. Out side capital will soon begin to flow into the state if the voter continues to express himself as emphatically as he has recently. Oregon was one of the first states to adopt freak laws and elect freaks to ofiice. Possibly it may bo the first to regain its senses. Cottage Grove Sentinel. Don't forgot the mass meeting in the city hall next Tuesday evening. It is expected that matters of vital importanco to the entire Peninsula will be tak en up. Especially are the peo ple of Portsmouth, University Park and other sections of the Peninsula invited to attend; get acquainted and got together in a united movement for boosting and nbetting the interests of the garden spot of the Northwest Tho Peninsula. Let tho meeting bo a representative one. Now is tho timo to do things. Givo the Portland authorities to under stand right at tho first jump that wo are going after all tho bene fits that rightfully belong to this section, and then they will know what to expect from us right nlong. Make tho Peninsula the biggest and most activo section of Portland. It's up to us. Let's nil go to it. Ex-Councilman Perrino sug gests that steps bo taken at this meeting to olfect a permanent organization for tho ontiro Pen insula, so that matters may be dealt with in a united manner.
