Pub-i Mention of tho assessment rolls1 boforo equalisation inthosntno manner has resulted in the dig ging up of enormous amounts of property. This is tho law of a number of states, and tho names aro published alphabeti cally by precincts, one column giving personal and the other realty. Thus two persons hav ing tho same amount of laud in a neighborhood got to see each other's assessment, and they also seo who is omitted from the roll. This law has abolished un just valuations and has placed millions of hitherto unassossed property on tho tax rolls, both personal and real. It is not less publicity that is required, but more, and loss commissions and boards and taxing bodies is what newspapers aro fighting for. Industrial News Bureau.
