( THE ST. JOHNS REVIEW A. V. MARKLE Published Every Friday At 117 West Burlington Street. Some one evidently told him that the Re view made the statement in last week's issue that the speakers at the previous meeting should all be in jail. Of course such n remark did not appear, nor any thing like it. However, the speaker assumed that his garbled information was correct and challenged the editor to a debate i on the street corner next Mon-1 day evening. The editor must decline, however much ho ap preciates the kind invitation, as he is, unfortunately, not a public speaker. But rather than wholly disappoint the speaker, he will agree to debate nny; proposition the speaker cares to take up in the Review, provided some regard is given to the length of same. If he wants to discuss tho proposition that "all churches should bo wiped off the t map" or "patriotism is sheer nonsense," we will do our best to convince him of the error of his ways. As a matter of fact tho Review made no "militant" remarks concerning the speakers in any issue. They have aright! to talk until they reach ihepointlnpwjRtyfc of slander or traitorous remarks; v then they should be prevented from talking farther. Slander and treason are culpable offences and should never bo tolerated on American soil. If the I. W. V Socialist or any other organiza tion confine their speakers to temperate and reasonable lan guage none will object. 1 Itrlnjc In your Job printing while you think of It.
