Councilman Munson's sugges tion at the council meeting Tues day evening that all cross walks in the city bo kept free of mud during tne rainy season is a very good one, and should be adpoted by tho city authorities, It is a good job to keen the in mates of the city jail busy upon. h The people of St. Johns should patronize the Lyceum course in stituted by the High School. It is a meritorious effort on the part of tho School to interest and instruct and entertain the people of our city, and the pro- muiura MHiiiiH' gruvi' rusponHimi ity in tne unuertaKing. A guar antee must bo given to secure the course, and the School pled ges its faitji in the patronage of uiu puojni' in iismmiiiiK uiiH re sponsiuuity. it is not a money making scheme. Last year af ter an arduous campaign only eight dollars were loft in the treasury after all expenses were paid, and the school was not compensated for the labor ex ponded on their vonturu. This year a course of six numbers nave been secured, all first class and especial care taken im the selection. And it is now up to the people to show their appre ciation of the cffortH inade to 011- tortnin and intercut them in clean and wholesome attractions. I'jvory household should be pro vided with a ticket. Make the burden of the School ion ardu ous and the responHibility less heavy to bear by responding readily and eneerfully when tick i . . it I A . eiH itro uncivil or mo o. ilium duty the people owe the Schools.
