All eommnnlcstlons should bo sddrened to The BtTlow, St. J otmi, Oregon. Subscription prlca $1.00 por yenr. Thnt trood times, almost with out precedent, will be mmitnirut- ed this Fall aooms certain, judfr- mir from the spirit of optimism displayed in all the big papers of the country, and the remarks made by prominent and influen tial people. 1 The valuable news of the day is not confined to the news col umns. It is also seen in the ad vertisements. Of course it is important to know what Presi dent Wilson is doinir, what the latest developments are in Chum or what base ball club leads the league. Hut it is also important to know where a barirain in boys' waists, garden hose, break fast food or J nil goods maybe found. These bits of commercial news arc uniontr the advertisements. Wise persons look for them and take advantage of them when they are doing their buying. The leading merchants are con tinually telling you news of their stores, news that is important because it often means a real saving and always means some thing new and worth while. Head the advertisement if you seek important news. Head them regularly and always with the thought that back of each advertisement are the reputa tion and business standing of the merchant. He could not afford to deceive yon even if he were so inclined. Only truthful advertising pays.
