K- " H ' A -M- a, X iirxu irhi, i mi- wi-vi fir ma wrrK OUR STORE will be CLOSED Wednesday at 1 o'clock during the "sale as on other Wednesdays It is necessary for business firms to take account of stock at least once each year. Everyone in any way connected with a store like ours, or any other store, knows what that moans. 1'here are a number of good reasons why we should have a sale before invoicing. First We have long since decided that it is better business to give our trade some reduced prices than to carry our summer goods to another season. They do us no good on the shelves; they do no one any good; the money is tied up as badly as buried in a can. Second We need the space to put in the large supply of fall goods that are com ing in from time to time. Third It is good advertising to have a sale at least once a year. Fourth- The inventory is much easier to take when the stock is lowest. Fifth We need the cash a sale brings to pay for the goods that are coming. To make this advertis ment do for two stores, let us explain that every thing at the right per tains to the Men's Tog gery; left to Ladies' Store 4 K OUT HERE IS JHE WISDOM of buying at our sale: First, you will not buy anything you do not need because our .stock tins nothing of Unit kind. Second, you will make about $3. (jo no us for ns $5.00 nt regular prices. Third, you arc spending your money ut home where it doiM l he community some good. The money spent in l'')ttlnud for just such tilings ns your homi'storecarriesenahles the Portland stores to build sk. sen per, and the city to be well paved. It'll do the same in St Johns.
