Baptists Give Reception The First Baptist church of St. Johns held its eighth annual roll call Wednesday evening, which was well attended and en joyed by all. The evening had a two-fold mission- that of an nual roll call, and reception for their new pastor, Rev. Dordman. The program which was very pleasing and instructive, was as follows: Opening song by choir and con gregation, "When the Hoi! is Called Up Yondnr." This was followed by prayer by Rev. Mur phey of the Congreational church, and Scrinture osson by the pas tor. After which the combined chorus of the Evangelical and Baptist churches sang the an them. "Praise Ye the rather." being led in a masterful way by Mr. Leake of the Evangelical church. Master Harry Evens gave a very laughable recitation. Mr. Holt then gave an address of welcome to those present, and Rev. Murphoy welcomed the now pastor on behalf of the di lie re nt denominations of the city, which was responded to by Rev. Hordman. At thin tune Air. Leake sang a splendid solo. Rev. Leonard, who was pastor lr three years during which time the church ediiici' was con structed, delivered the roll call sermon. During his remarks he told of the struggles they had together during iho early years of the church organization, and or the pleasures and successes they had mot with in the work. and told of the ones he had learned to love while here who had already crossed over the riv or to their great reward. Ho exhorted the members to do their duty to the church, to sup port the pastor by their work and attendance at all the ser vices of the church, to give of their means for the support of the work, and, above all, to strengthen the church, thorn- selves and each other by their consistent prayers for the sue cess of the cause. The roll call was then given and responded to by the mem hers present. The program was closed by singing "tJod Ho With You," Rev. Leonard pronouuc ing the benediction. uoirushtuuniH ot ico cream and cako were served after the close of tho program, and the remainder of tho evening was spent in pleasant conversation. saw sfesssr m mm Ifyuu hnvo 11 Illtlo iltmglitvr, hnnle fur hor rluht now throo tlullttrs fur hor first yonrif llfo, six uul Inrs fur hor soonntl, 11I110 ilnllnrs fur hot' third, mill so 011 tint II you out oik tiitu hornrosont nfxoi nml thon un hvr no.xt hlrthilny, fin 11 It tu hor orotllt throo ilul Inrs fur onoh yottr uf hor uixo nml Icoon this tin un til sho Is'JI, Sho'll thon luivo nonrlvA TIIOtlSAXU UOILA ICS mill ynii'll novor mlss'tho innnov.
