Klamath farmers aro fatten
ing hogs on their surplus potato
crops. Ten car loads of hogs
have been shipped into that dis
trict from Sacramento, and if
the potatoes on hand can bo util
ized profitably in this way, other
large shipments will bo made.
To stimulate interest in grow
ing corn in this state, the Oregon
Agricultural College offers ten

cific. The new road will give
improved transportation to a
district long without railroads
and is certain to add tremen

Geo. H. Campling, a former
well known citizen of St Johns,
has returned from an extended
onimim in San Diego. Cal. He
says he is glad to get back where
he can rest his eye on green veg
etation once more. Everything is
i barren in the southern
city, and labor is a drug in the
market.
Salem has started something
new in the organization pf a
commercial club that will include
in t& membership farmers and
fruit growers of the surrounding
country as well as Business men
of the city. Probably no section
of the state is in closer touch
with its outside territory and
such a move is of great benefit
