J. II. Ross of 211 South Fill
more brought us samples of
second growth Bartlett pears
which ho gathered from beneath
his tree last Friday. Some of
the pear trees seem to be work
ing overtime this year.
A Woodrow Wilson Democratic
rally took place in tho city hall
last Saturday evening. The lar
gest audience of the year turned
out to hear the speakers. Ad

Manning, John A. Jeffrey, Woods
Smith and Benjamin Brick.
The CountyCommissioners are
worthy of much praise and com
fnr tlift fixeellent work
they have accomplished on the
county roads through the city,
and the people of St. Johns feel
kindlier toward the present
board than they have ever felt
previously.
Elsewhere in this issue will be
noticed the announcement of
Edwin Anders as candidate for
County Supt. of Schools. Mr.
Anders is a married man, a .grad
uate of the University of Illinois,
and in every way is well qualified
for the position. A vote for him
will not be misplaced.
