    A Wish
Win,
I'd like to snenk away today
Off yonder where the willows sway,
And loaf beside a little stream
Where long ago I used to dream.
Bare-footed I would like to be
A pole cut from a hickory tree,
A line of knotted string, and bait
I dug beyond the garden gate,
I'd like to ta(kc along, the way
I did in golden yesterday.
But that's a wish I'll never get
It's buried in the past, and yet,
Somehow my rod of split bamboo,
My Shakespeare reel and tackle new
And artificial minnows fine,
The splendid silk and linen line
Set me to wishing I could know
Once more the joys of long ago,
The charms of that old fishing hole,
When I had but a hickory pole.
I'm starting out at break of day
To fish out in yonder bay,
With costly tackle, shining bright,
But I shall miss the old delight;
And I shall wish that I could be
That youngster, underneath the tree,
That bare of head, bare-footed lad,
Who only homc-mnde tackle had,
And live my yesterdays again,
Because 1 used to catch 'cm then.

The Motor Races, Industrial Exhibits and Sweet Pea
Show arc now part of St. Johns' history. In our
opinion it was a great success. We feel that St, Johns
should now make an annual affair of the Sweet Pea
Carnival at least. But we hope that by sonic wise
planning and expended energy that a switch to the
Dock by this time in 1913 will compel us to go else
where with the Sweet Peas. Wc will do our part.

Next Wednesday, July 24th, the Grocers have their picnic at Bonneville. We will close our store

The primary purpose of every
good store is to sell the best pos
sible merchandise in such a way,
and at such a price, as to make
for its own profit and the satis
faction of the customer.
No store can give away goods
continually without a skimping of
quality and service. But a live
store can frequently obtain really
good merchandise that it can offer
at below regular prices.
Adopting for our store policy
the fundamentals of good mer
chandisingquality and service
we have consistently aimed to
broaden our scope so as to meet
the needs of all people.
The result is a store organiza
tion dominated throughout by a
spirit of fair play to customer and
