Human nature is a very strange

playing in Portland, in violating tiie

to be run down by a train, nccessi

Come Before They are All Gone
The Home Formulary
The latest and most valuable Toilet and
Miscellaneous Formulas for home use by
William A. Hoburg, instructor in theoreti
cal and applied pharmacy at the College
of Pharmacy of the city of New York
PRICE $5.00
In presenting this book to the
public, we fully appreciate the vast
amount of service and real benefit
n practical collection of formulas
will be to nny family. The sole
ebject, therefore, is to make th
hook practical ami tiscful, and to
have it contain only such rcmcdic
as will be constantly nscded in cv
cry home.
Notwithstanding the great mini
bcr of medical books that cover the
country and the vast expense of
producing some of them, we fail to
find a single one that is nractica
for tinprofcssionablc people to use
They attempt to supplant the
physician by devoting their many
pages to complicated diseases which
uo family should think of treating
nnd gtvc but little attention to rem
edles lor simple irouhies tuat are
continually needed, and which
could he intelligently used by the
public.
In consideration of the above
great care has been used to place
110 formula in this collection but
what may be of practical value to
the ordinary or unprofessional per
son, and each formula has been
worked on so diligently nnd care
hilly tuat tliey are sent tortli on
their own merits, with the belief
they will receive that hich nnnrc
ciation from the public which their
real value and usefulness so richly
deserve.
We have made arrangements for
n number of thescbooks, which cu
allies us to present free of charge
to our friends, one of the most use
ful collections of formulas we have
ever seen.
In this book nothing is given for
any serious troubles, because the
unprofessional person is not capa
lile of diagnosing or treating any'
tiling complicated, and such trou
hies should in all cases be referret
to n physician. No formula, there
fore, contained herein is for a per
sou to use internally, and not r
dose of medicine is given for you to
take. I hey are such as may he
used with benefit and will be need
ed, ierhap3, fifty times to where
you require a prescription for se
riotts troubles once.
We keep one of these books com
plctc on our prescription case, and
when you desire n formula filled,
bring its number only.
Tlie book described above con
tains one hundred and sixty-eight
formulas, and our scheme is to give
them away, but the giving away
cannot be done indiscriminately as
our purpose is to place one in each
home in St. Johns, and at the same
time to get you started in using the
the recipes; so we will require you
to get a recipe filled at the time you
receive lite booK. itacu weeK we
will publish two sample formulas,
any one of which you may bring to
us at any time and have filled and
receive a book free.
