There was a number of colonists
in St. Johns this week. The de

favorable impression on them and
they were not backward in ex

The realty board of St. Johns
held a meeting on Tuesday after
noon at the office of O. P. Wolcott.
An interesting address was made
by Mrs. Carlcy. The board decid
ed to place St. Johns literature in
Portland for free distribution.
A visitor to St. Johns from Port
laud pointed out the fact that n
short cut could be made to Kenton
ind the nocking plant by having a
track Inid on Lombard street from
tin.- turn in the line at Peninsula
suiiioti (..ist to Derby street and
there connect with the stockyards
line, This might be worth looking
into as it would save two miles of a
ride; but what the people of St.
Jonus wants is a direct Hue so as to
cut off about five miles more.
