I9 ' Arnold's Combined Shows ore in the city nnd hove located on Jersey and Ivanhoe streets at Chi cago. There are a half dozen dif ferent entertainments and amuse ments and they will hold forth un til Sunday night. Many out-of-town visitors arc taking advantage off the attractions as an inducement to visit St. Johns. A balloon ascen sion is advertised to take place daily with a parachute descent. The city is taking on a holiday appear ance and holiday crowds ore be coming in evidence. The small boy is having the time of his life, even if the elephant has not yet put inion appearance. The entertain ments arc said to be first class in every particular and everything is moral and clean. A good chance is afforded of spending 0 few inter esting hours along the "trail" and the cost is little. Take your chil dren and let them enjoy themselves for at least once. If you have no child, borrow one for the occasion. Life is short and attractions arc few, so you cannot afford to miss such an excellent opportunity. 0 Justus T. Ncff, County School Superintendent of Wasco county, was in the city yesterday looking uftcr his property, consisting of four acres on the boulevard near Kast St. Johns station. This prop erty which l'rof. Ncff bought a few years ago for a very small fraction of what is worth now, is another Instance of the rapidity with which St. Johns property grows into money. The mothers' meeting of the Womnn's Christian Temperance Union will be held at the home of Miss Drown, corner Greshaui and West Charleston, Monday, June 6th, at 2:30. Subject, "Effects of Tobacco on the Youth.". A most cordial invitation extended to all interested in mothers work.
