NOT many days ago two
ladies came into our
Dry Goods Dept. and made
some purchases. During the
course of conversation some
thing like this occurred:
"How much lire your apron
ginghams, Mr. Uoiiham?"
The price given was 8 cents
per yard. The other lady then
asked how much they were by
the bolt, and upon being told
7j4 cents, said: "Why, mam
ma, I think the ladies hnd bet
ter buy their ginghams in St.
Johns." Wc could cite you
to similar conversations con
cerning more than one thing
wc carry. In this particular
case wc were impressed by it
because we suspect "the la
dies" referred to wcie mem
bers of some sewing society.
Up to this time it lias not been
our business policy to buy
leaders and have special sates
on them and do extensive ad
vertising, but wc try to treat
nil our trade with courtesy, so
it will be a pleasure for them
to return, and wc are endeav
oring to make such prices on
seasonable things as will give
a fair margin of profit and n
large following of dependable
customers. Our Shoe stock
nnd Groceries are the most
complete in St. Johns, and wc
carry a good Hue of Gents'

Keep Bright and You
WILL KEEP BUSY
IJlectric Light is the magnet that draws trade. The
bright store is the "hypnotic eye" of business. People can
no more resist the attraction of n brilliant, Ulectrically lighted
store than they can resist the clarion call of n brass bund,
Is your competitor with the Electrically illuminated show
windows, bright interior and sparkling Iilectric Sign getting
an advantage over you ? The moth never flutters around the
uulighted candle I Up-to-date stores nowadays consider
shop-window lighting a necessity, whether they remain open
after dark or not. Competition forces modern methods.
A show window brilliantly illuminated with Klcctrlc
light will make many a sale "the night before." ISIeetric
light compels attention, makes easy the examination of your
display, shows goods iu detail and fabrics iu their true colors.
And don't neglect the Klectric vSigii. It is soliciting
"tomorrow's" business every moment it is lighted burning
your name in the public mind. It is . a solicitor that never
becomes weary never stops work costs little.
