PLATFORM AND TICKET
The following is the platform of the Good Government League
PLATFORM
Strict enforcement of the law without fear or favor.
Economy and retrenchment in city expenses.
In favor of building a public dock and acquiring land therefor.
In favor of petitioning the legislature to allow the county to operate a
free ferry.
The closing of saloons, bowling alleys, pool or billiard rooms, skating rinks, etc.,
on Sundays.
In favor of a light street grade in the outlying districts to conform with the contour
of the land.
And of fostering every legitimate enterprise that would locate in St. Johns.
The Good Government League is in favor of economy, but while favoring a free ferry, is opposed to purchasing a boat which
is unfitted for the service, and at a cost out of all proportion to its value.
It is also opposed to all graft and to giving away without consideration any of the city franchises.
Above all, it pledges itself to reduce the taxes as far as possible consistent with good government, and to enforce the laws and
give the city a clean and honest administration.
