Keep Bright and You
WILL KEEP BUSY
Klcctric Unlit l the mannet that draws trade. The
bright store Is the "hypnotic eye" of business. People can
no more resist the attraction of a brilliant, lilectrically linhted
store than they can resist the clarion call of a brass band.
Is your comitetitor with the Electrically Illuminated show
windows, bright interior nnd sparkling Klcctric Siu t;cttin
an advantage over you ? The moth never llulteis around the
iinliKhted caudle! Up-to-date stores nowadays consider
shop-window HnhtiiiK a necessity, whether they remain open
after dark or not. Competition forces modern methods.
A show window brilliantly illuminated with Klectric
linht will make many a sale "the night before." Klectric
light comttels attention, makes easy the examination of your
display, shows goods in detail and fabrics in their true colors,
And don't neglect the Hlcctric Sign. It is soliciting
"tomorrow's" business every moment it is lighted burning
your name in the public mind. It is a solicitor that never
becomes weary never stops work - casts little.

Don't Use Big Words.
The following selection from
that delightful book entitled "One
Hundred Choice Selections" was
handed to us by one of our friends
for publication. It will be curious
to take up the dictionary and hunt
up the words we may not under
stand and note the difference be
tween the big long words and the
short, simple ones which we may
use to express the same thoughts.
There is a good lesson in the
"squib" whether we profit by it or
not:
In promulgating your esoteric
cogitations, or articulating your
superficial sentimentalities and am
icable, philosophical or psycholog
ical observations, beware of plat
itudinous ponderosity. Let your
conversational communications pos
sess a clarified conciseness, n com
pacted comprehensibleness, coalcs-
ccut consistency, and a concatenat
cd cotrencv. Kschew all conglom
orations of flatulent garrulity.
ieiune babblement, and asinine
ahectations. Let your exicmpor
aneous dcscantinns and unprcmcd
itated cxpatiations have iutclllgi
bllity and veracious vivacity, with
out rhodomontade or thrasonical
bombast. Sedulously ovoid al
polysyllabic profundity, pompous
prolixity, nsittaccous vacuity.
vcntriloquial verbosity and vanil
oqticut vapidity. Shun double
entendres, prurient jocosity, and
pestiferous profanity, obscurant or
ntmarcnt. In oilier words, talK
plainly, briefly, naturally, sensibly.
truthfully, purely. Keep from
"slang;" don't put on airs; say
what you mean; mean what you
say. And don't use big wordsl
New Shingle Mill.
The best thing we have heard
lately- is the story told us by

These gentlemen casually scrnpet;
the acquaintance of these would be

understand, there came a time
when the moments hung heavily

The public library has moved
into new quarters at 107 South

one, liglit, roomy, 011 the ground

hardly be a more desirable one.
We hope our people will take ad-
