buildings that are to be erected in

council has done for many a day
is to make provisions for some of
the unemployed. There are very
few in the city and it is ever sol
much better to give them employ

men who have not the means to
buy books, or are too euuriotis to
tlo so; but such is not the case.

the city of Portland watch this
library and refer to its new books
on all the sciences utid arts to keep
in touch with the latest develop-

the library are among the best edu
cated and brightest minds of the

prise on her many friends here when
the fact was announced that she

proprietress of the Home Bakery

Bredeson suggested that there was

shape of trees which obstructed the
view in the streets and which were
a detriment to the streets and

able employment to these men.

enough of such trees to make 500
cords of wood.

of St. Joints, Oregon, deems it expedient

from Willnnicttc lloulcvnrd to the north
line of St. Johns Heights addition in the
following nmnncr, to wit:
To establish the necessary erode for
paving and to Improve said l'olk
street, lay sidewalks, grade, etc. Said
Improvement to be made in accordance
with the charter nnd ordinances of the
city of St. Johns, and the plans, specifi
cations and estimates of the city engi
neer, filed in the office of the recorder ot
the city of St. Johns. The cost of said
Improvement to he assessed as provided
by the city charter upon the property

by and which is hereby declared to be nil
