These sound good to us and we are glad to hear them. We would be happier still It we were as sure of all of them as we are of one good building which wilt be erected within the next 90 days and be occupied by one of the best business enterprises in the city. H One of the best things this council has done for many a day is to make provisions for some of the unemployed. There are very few in the city and it is ever sol much better to give them employ ment and make wood wlilcli can be sold when seasoned and dry, at a price which will not only return to the trcasurery the money ex pended, but a reasonable interest for the use of the same. It is a SHOULD BE CLOSED. We wish to call the attention of our renders to the communication of Hon. K. C. Couch, city mayor, In reply to our editorial criticising the city council for what we believe to be a disregard of the wishes of the majority of the better class of the people they have been elected to serve. Our good mayor thinks he has scored one against the writer when he asserts that we approved the ordinance reducing the age from 18 to 16 years. We still believe it would be better to admit them to the pool rooms here at the age or 16 and keep them here than to permit them to go to I'ortlniul j whom these dens arc infinitely more filthy than they are here.
