Considerable consternation pre vailed ninonir the candidates of the Peoples and Independent tickets last Pridny morning when the city recorder announced that, owing to irregularities in the filing of the nominations, be could not place the names of the candidates of those tickets on the ballot. The decision was the result of nu appeal of the candidates to the re corder to place their names on the ballot. Many considered the de cision of the recorder as having a large sized string attached to It in the proviso that he would place the names 011 the ticket if he was not restrained before midnight of Thursday, March 28. If some one would have seen fit to file a restraining order it would have left only one ticket in the field, and the candidates 011 the Peoples and Independent tickets and their friends proposed to have a run for the offices, Accoitliugly mandamus proceed iug were instituted and the record er was cited to apcar and show cause why the tickets would not appear on the official ballot, lloth wiles were lepres.utcd by counsel. After a short but interesting hear ing the court announced that he won 1 1 decide the case one week Inter, which would be next Tucs day. This appears to leave the case where there will be nothing to decide, as the election next Monday will settle all the points of the con troversy, Official Ballot.
