The officers of the semi-profes sionnl base bull clubs met in the Lumber Exchange in Portland Inst Saturday night mid organized the Tri-City llase Hall League, and resolved to incorporate with a capi tal of $500. The league will in clude clubs from Portland, Wood- burn nud St. Johns. C. W. Glover has been elected manager for the woodbttrn club nud Charles Moore wilt act in the sutne capacity for St. Johns. Hugo Sicbels and Joseph A. Stutt of Portland and D. Mangold of Wood- burn were chosen as umpires. What Was Done nt the Meeting TuesJny Night. The session of the council last Tuesday evening was productive and interesting throughout. All members were present, minutes of the last meeting read and approved. A petition signed by tax cial report of the city's business for' the past year be prepared and pub-! lishcd as provided by the city char ter, was the cause of considerable discussion. The recorder explained that he had made several reports. Aid. Hewitt questioned the record er at length, and insisted that an itemized report be made nnd pub lished. Aid. Hewitt insisted 011 an itemized report. He did not ques tion the honesty of the recorder, but the law its laid down in the charter had not been complied with. After the matter had been thor oughly threshed out the recorder was instructed to prepare and pub lish an itemized report. A communication from C. L. Goodrich stating that he had been nppoiiiteil administrator of his father s est ite and asking thut he be paid the balance of the iitchi tect's fees on the city hall building was received. On motion of Aid. Hewitt it was laid on the table until certified copies of the iidmiuistintioti pajiers could be presented and passed upon by the council. A long communication was re ceived from the Cement Piodttcc Co. in regard to materials furnished Youugferdorf & Son nud used in the construction of the city hall. On motion of Aid. King, and seconded by Aid. Hewitt, the re corder was instructed to my the muting bills out of the five ter cent, awarded the engineer for his work. The petition of L. Richard to build a roof garden nt the corner of ersey nud lacomn streets stated that the work would be done in a substantial manner nud everything made fireproof. Referred to build- ug committee. 1 he recorder was instructed to procure a sufficient number of reg ular nud sample ballots for use nt the city election on April 1, and to publish the complete ticket one time in The Review. Die petition for an arc light at the corner of Polk street and Wil- amette boulevard was rejected. City Attorney Greene stated that le had examined the title to the city hall property and found it to be all right, but that nu abstract should be furnished by n reliable abstract company. An abstract brought down to date, us recom mended by the city attorney, was ordered. A bill for $780 for the chemical engine purchased last summer was presented. Laid over for one week.
