Newspapers reach the greatest number of people in the immediate vicinity in the most natural way, at the least expense, and they are therefore the best of all mediums for stores. In a newspaper you follow the lines of least resistance you follow with the stream, you talk to an audience already as sembled, to people who want to read their mental costume is right they are on your wire and they won't ring off if you hold their interest Attraction is the basis of all adver tising the store is the sun, the customers the planets that revolve around it. If you don't do the business it's because you don't tell the people enough about your business. Advertise in oooooooooo:Moo:'x:'0':x':t n... n s Rinuf unrrrmnp g non uaigamo 6. St. Johns, Oregon, March 2, 1907 To the Editor: In your issue of yesterday I notice that you stated "that the mayor cut short the remarks of Attorney Perkins." The wording you gave to the article would lead one to infer that I was averse to having any facts pertain ing to the new charter made public or else that my actions were unfair to Mr. Perkins. The facts arc that the time of the meeting of the council had -been somewhat extended, that the matter had been very thoroughly discussed, and that the article which it was proposed to read was not the bill as It was to become the law. Nothing could have been gained in the way of information regarding the bill in tt question by reading the document Mr Perkins had, as there had been many amendments; and it might have confused the general mind to listen to one bill and then act upon another. There was no desire upon my part to cut Mr. Perkins short for the purpose of suppressing any genuine information, but I believed it best to wait for the correct bill as it became a law and thus prevent all bother.
