'1 hat's the way Louie Richard, better known as the Abe Rucf o St. jonns, sings the good old nur sery rhyme nowadays. The inci dent that led to Abe's parody occurred lust Tuesday when he killed a fine 'Berkshire porker o the Philadelphia ham weight. This particular pig has been in Abe's possession for a couple of months mid has been fed with food to (lav or the meat accordimr to Abe's epicurean taste. Every morning lier porcine highness was inveti quart of port wine as an appetizer to attack a peck of acorns. The noonday luncheon consisted of pail of corn meal mush and milk. and this was followed by a hearty dinner of roasted chestnuts and celery. Every night she slumbered in a stall carpeted with lamb s wool: and blankets of the finest texture prevented the night air from mak dig her uncomfortable. Last Iitcsday she had reached the proper weight, and Abe con eluded to sample the meat he had prepared. 1 he family boiler lull of hot water awaited the arrival of Hutcher Bennett when he appeared at the abbatoir with a vicious look ing butcher knife in his hand. Her highness was about to be assassina ted. Tearfully Abe drove her from her quarters ami cracked her between the eyes with a rusty ham mer. With a snort that sounded like"woofl" the daintily fed beast sank to the ground. The villainous butcher knife did the rest. Anticipating the pleasure he would have 111 devouring the choice morsels Abe hung the carcass up to cool, and then informed his friends of the choice cuts he would soon be feasting upon. Right here is where the mis chievous one begun his work. When Abe went out to cut off a hunk of her highness for his break fust Wednesday morning no hog was there. Rushing down town le informed a crowd of loungers that some one had stolen his hog. "Stolen your hog?" imiuircd one of the crowd. 'Y-a-a-s, my hog!" yelled Abe. had "Aw, I don't believe you I any hog," answered another. "Get out, you'iebugl" exclaimed Abe as he shot into a near by store and began rummaging around for his lost porker. "Gel out of here I" shouted the clerk, who was behind the counter. "This is no slaughter house. There's 110 hog in here, and I don't believe you lost a hog." "Your bug, I tell you!" said Aim as he disnpiR-nred down the street.
