cerning the grading of the street
and the removal of the debris now
alomr that thoroughfare was re
ceived.
The sidewalk on Chicago street
was accented.
The matter of the improvement
cf Allegheny street was laid on the
table.
The ordinance relating to bill
posting in the city was read the third
time.
Mavor llinmaii announced that
the standing committees appointed
by his predecessor would be con-
tinned.
He also announced the appoint
ment of S. II. Green to fill the mi'
expiretl term as city attorney, and
of Charles Hrcdcson to fill the ttn
exnircd term as chief of police,
Hoth appointments were confirmed
by the council.
The bill for the costs in the case
of J. S. Downey et al vs. the City
of St. Johns, amounting to Sad-os,
was ordered paid, as was a bill of
t.i for a load of wood.
The St. Johns Water and Light
ing Co. presented a bill of 3277 for
lowering the water mains during
the past summer on the streets that
were being gradetl in the various
parts of the city. Rejected.
On motion of Aid. King the or
dinance designating the file limits
was laid on the table.

the Chicago street improvements

ton streets, which he turned over to
the city some time ago.
