At the election to be held in June the voters of St. Johns will decide whether or no they will issue bonds in the sum of $10,000 for the pur pose of building nuothcr addition of four rooms to the present high school building. It is tin to the people to say whether this shall be done or have 11 new school building erected nt nuotlicr point in the citv. l lie argument is mime that a Iaruc school can be operated much more economically than two smaller ones. With the proposed addition added to the present central school it would make it a huildiim contain ing sixteen rooms. This plan has many friends, while those who ad vocate nuothcr building at some point in the north end of town are numerous. It was expected that the funds of the James Johns estate would be available for the purpose of erect ing a new building, but as matters slanTl it would be some time before they can be used. The malter is one Hint alt patrons of the schools will take a deep interest in, and should and will be dIscuM'd by all. He thnuuht nothing of it till a little while after he was in the house and through with the matter. A few moments later he com menced to feel as if lice were upon himand at first thought that he might have encountered some of the ests while in the hen house. On the 26th tilt, n barge load of lumber was delivered at a point on the river opposite the dry dock. This lumber will be used in the erection of a black smith shop, tool house, mess house and oilice. The lines have all beenruu bv the siirveyois, and their exact location is now being determined. This work will not be completed for u mouth. About forty men are at work on the opx site bank, and this number will soon be increased. All work will be carried on from the west bank of the river. This wilt be done for the reason that all material can be handled more rapidly and cheaply by reason of the excellent shipping facalities. A spur has been surveyed and will soon be built from the main line of the railroad to the west approach of tit.-bridge. Nearly all the men tit unseat employed live in St. Johns, crossing the river to their work every morn ing. Quarters will be elected bv the company and all the men who care to can secure mvnmnil'itiiiiw near the Hint of their work.
