Mayor King presided at the ad journed meeting 01 the council Tuesday evening while Council man Thompson was ubsent the entire evening and Councilman Shields came in very lvi,te. Uids were received from Itechcl Hrothcrs and from I N. Tomlinsoii for the improvement of Crawford, Salem and Pittsburg street. The bids . of the latter were not totalized, so that hours would be required before one could tell how '.he bids stood. The bids of Uochel mo thers were estimated. Crawford 565.30; Salem-'$79!.oo: Piltsburg ?552.t5. The documents were referred to the committee, who will report next Monday evening at the regular meeting. hut one bid was rec-.ived for the construction of the Philadelphia street sewer. It was received from Hcchel Hrothcrs, niiil the estimated amount was given as $.1275.11. The bid was Uirncl over to the proper committee for further con sideration. The proper certified checks accompanied all the bids. Ordinance changing the name of the Motileith htteet which lies iu the subdivision of St. Johns Heights lo Jers.-y street, passed first, second and thiid readings, 1.1nl was placed upon its final passage. An ordinance prohibiting minors frequenting billiard hulls and bowl ing alleys passed its first, second and third readings, mid wus put upon its final passage. Richardson was again before the council in the matter of a gas franchise. He pledged him self to commence work on the plant within ninety days from the passage of the franchise, to furnish gas at a price not to exceed 51.35 per 1000 feet, and to turn over to the city two cr cent of the gross income of tlte plant. There was 110 time agreed upon when the plant should be iu running older, although Mr. Richardson promised to use all due haste iu completing the same.
