The meeting Thursday night at
Community Hail for the purpose of
ratifying the articles of conatitutlon
and by laws of Crook County Cham
ber of Commerce, was well attended
by Powell Butte people. A delega
tion from Prinevllle and Ochoco
were present and explained the ba
sis of the plan and thirteen names
were secured at that time. No doubt
moat of the men of Powell Butte will
be ready to take a membership when
the canvas for members is made.
The following named gentlemen
were present from Prinevllle and
Ochoco, Messers, Fuller, Upton,
Skipwortb, Woodruff, Gallaher,' Mc
Rae, Jordan, Battles, Douglas, Hoe
lecher. Barrett, Fessler, Holmes and
County Agent Tucker,
Mr. and Mra. Bert (Pinkie) Rey

Lott of Lamonta. and will move to

Thursday where they visited with
Mrs. Wallace Smith and family. The
ladies enjoyed a fine turkey dinner
cooked in their honor as only Mrs.
Smith can cook them. The Smiths
formerly lived at Powell Butte and
bad specially invited the guests for
the day.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kissler gave
a dinner lastThursday In honor of
Mr. Kissler'S brother Henry, and
wife who are visiting here from San
bourne City, Iowa. There was pres
ent: Mr. and Mrs. John Kissler of
Redmond, Mrs. Miller of Oakland,
California, Grandpa Kissler, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Kissler and Frank Kis
sler's family. The next day Frank
Kiasier took tbem In his car to
Prinevllle and up to the Ochoco
Dam. They are wonderfully impres
sed with this Country.
Jamea Griffin took a fine load of
wood to Prinevllle on Monday.
Levi Ernest sold a load of pota
toes in Prinevllle Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Washburn of
Prinevllle visited at the G. C. Trues
dale home Sunday evening.
George C. Truesdale, road super
visor of this district has a large force
of men at work on tbe road leading
north from Community Hall. Eight
new culverts are to be put in and
some graveling done to prepare the
road for the heavy gravel trucks
that will haul gravel to the high
way over this road. This Is a county

served by the hostess was the kind
that makes the ladies present dislike
to have to go home and cook a com
mon supper for the man of the house
and tbe school children who were
not fortunate enough to be a club
member.

Friday night Mr. Barnard former
ly lived at Powell Butte and enjoys
getting back once In a while to see
the old friends.
The dance at Community Hall was
a pleasant affair. All enjoyed the
good music by Johnson Creek Or

Salem this week on business con
nected with the district.

critically ill.
Linn Coovert returned this week
from Grants Pass bringing with him
a fine bunch of dairy cows, and a
Crawford car for their ranch at Al
falfa. Gustave Berry, Mark and Verel
Taylor and Gerald Lidwig returned
to their homes in Alfalfa Saturday,
having finished their work on the
Highway near Redmond.
