HIGH SCHOOL NOTES
(Continued from page 9)
where they were served with Ice
cream and fake. This is the first
treat the boys have had this year.
The season is not over, so there Is
plenty of time for several more.
Who's next? A dinner has been pro
mised by Mr. Evans, provided
(wait till the end of the season)
The second team game with Red
mond's second team was cancelled
due to the fact thatthey were unable
to obtain the grounds for the morn
ing. The Redmond second team
played here during the fair and ar
rangements were then made tor the
return game.
On Saturday the 23rd, the Alumni
play their game with the high school
team. Every year the number of
the Alumni is Increased and accord
ingly the number of men eligible tor
the football team is increased. By
this time they should be able to as
semble a teom of former star players
that played on the C. C. H. S. team
j in years gone by. Of course they
i are quite old, stiff in the joints and
i short-winded, so they don't promise
; to beat us.
Tb next intarscholastlo gam to;
the local team to play Is scheduled
with Bend on October 30th. Al
though they were defeated In their
first game played with Prlnevllle. ths
Benders promise to show us a mors
Interesting game when played on
their own grounds. Next Saturday,
Bend plays Redmond at Redmond.
That SS to 0 Hour
There Is a little song that th stu
dent body of the Crook County High
School persisted In singing especial
ly when our football team played ths
Bend team. The words are like this,
Bend HI will whine tonight,
Bend HI will whine.
When the sun goes down and th
moon comes up,
Bend HI will whine."
This Is characteristic ot Bend, and
their whining lasts more than a day
or two. When Prlnevllle playod
Bend, Oootober S. they played to
win, and they pluyed as football Is
played by all schools; but Bend and
her supporters pin their fate to the
"unsportsmanlike conduct of the
Crook County aggregation and Its
supporters." Following Is a report
as the editor ot the High School news
of the Bend papers sees It:
"Rooters' Elhlts"
"The annual football fluaco on t It -
Prlnevllle grounds is a thing of the
past and, with It, cornea the usual
complaint ot gross unsportsmanlike
conduct on the part of the Crook
county aggregation and Its support
ers. Reports are current to the effect
that a stuffed dummy football was
used as a ruse, Carlisle fashion, by
the Prlnevllle players and that three
of the players wera Ineligible. There
Is evidence to suport both proposi
tions, but the latter is undoubtedly
verified by the failure of Crook coun.
ty faculty representatives to certify
properly to the eligibility of mem
bers ot the team as the usual cus
tom demands. v
The continual stream of personal
Invective directed against the Bend
players and rooters by the Prlnevllh
students and backed by grownups
with demands thst members of the
Prlnevllle team "get" this or thul
Bend player, assumed nothing of ths
phases of legitimate rooting in sup
port of the Prlnevllle team, but evi
denced rather a type of roughneck
ism and lack of culture that charac
terizes no school community on earth
perhaps, save the little Inland vil
lage in question.

Lower Prices for
Ouir Customers
A lot has been published in" the papers of late regarding lower
prices. To a certain extent there has been price reductions but
not to the extent that many have been lead to believe.
In every instance where there has been a' market decline we
have marked our merchandise to conform to' the new level and our customers can
be assured that we are going to continue to give the benefit of any market declines.
On many items this is going to mean a loss to us as it is impossible for any
concern to carry the slock that their customers have a right to ezped and Still be
able to get out without some loss. It is simply a loss that merchants must take
on a declining market. Some of the prices named in this advertisement are
special to clean up overstocks while others show market declines.
