Mrs. Delphine Taylor resigned her position as a member of the High School faculty and left for her home in Eugene Saturday. Elibert Elliott has returned from England and is at the hospital at Camp Lewis, recovering from an op eration for appendicitis. E. S. Robe of the Prineviile Hotel returned Tuesday from Portland, where he has been attending the State Hotel Men's convention. John" Rogers of Portland of the U. S. Revenue Service, is expected in Prineviile soon to assist taxpayers in making out their income statements. Mrs. Marion Mayfield and children of Gresham arrived in the city Tues day. They were called here because of the illness of Mrs. Mayfield's moth er. T. S. Lawrence, representing the Happy Farm Tractor, is in the city today and will locate in this part of the state, with headquarters at Red mond. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Biggs and Mrs. L. M. Hodges were visitors in Red mond yesterday. Mr. Biggs gave an interesting talk at the Central Ore gon Irrigation School meeting. Columbus Bryan has returned from Belgrade, Missouri, where he has been for several months. He was accompanied home by J. J. Town send of the same place. Carl Stoll arrived from Vancouver M""-1 ""' will make Prineviile his future home. .Mr. Stoll and L. M. Wilson, also of Vancouver, recently purchased a ranch near here. Mrs. H. K. Brooks, Mrs. W. 0. Trow of Ontario, represent ing the Colonization company, and L. M. Seaweard arrived last night, They will proceed to drill deep wells on the Millsap ranch north of town for irrigation. Although there is an abundance of moisture at the pres ent time it is the intention of the Col onlzation company to demonstrate the necessity of putting water on the lands at the right time to Insure a big yield of grain or forage. The teachers of Powell Itutte Sun day school meet every Friday ffter noon for the study of the lesson. This week they meet at the home of Wal lace Smith. R. O. Smith of Prineviile complet ed a Job of papering and painting at the Hans Jacohson home and re turned to Prineviile Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson have entirely re modeled their home and it certainly does look fine. Geo. Kissler has been hauling bal ed hay to Redmpnd filling a car for shipment. Road Supervisor Truesdale start ed dragging the roads Monday, which is much needed sb the recent rains have left the roads almost impass able. Miss Gladys Pauls came out from her school east of Prineviile to visit with the home folks the week end. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Bussett had tor their guests at dinner Saturday ev ening Mr. and Mrs. Sturdevant and Miss Sturdevant. The Bussetts and the Sturdevants came from the same town in Kansas and enjoyed vlsi.ting because of that fact. Mr. Sturde vant is obliged to leave Central Ore gon because of 111 health. We hope he will find relief In his ne"w location Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Riggs visited in Prineviile Thursday. The death of Mrs. Blanche Michel occurred at the fumlly home In this city yesterday at 12 o'clock. Mrs, Michel has been confined to her home since May 15 Inst, and the end was not unexpected. Her con dition has been critical for more than a month past. Blanche J. Half was born In Paris France, on February 28, 1864, and ramo to New York with her parents when a girl. She and I. Michel were married In Portland. Oregon, 27 years ago when Mra. Michel was on a vacation on the roust from her New York home, and the Mlchels have made their home la Oregon since that time.
