CROOK COCNTT JOVRNAL
HIGH SCHOOL
NEWS NOTES
Knthrrlne Drury Hon. In The IJxt
Mr. Evans hat Junt compiled the
scholarship of the entire student body
ot the high school for the first six
weeks' period ending October 1. He
has also determined the scholarship
by classes, and the average scholar
ship of the school for this period.
The Seniors lead all classes in the
group scholarship, making a percen
tage of 88.7. The Juniors follow with
86.6 per cent, the Sophomores with
86.9 per cent, Freshmen with 84.1
per cent. This seems consistent with
things, that the Sophomores should
excell the Freshmen and so on
through the four classes, but when
we come to the ten highest ranking
students In school we do not find this
consistency obtaining, for here we
find that 4 Sophomores have place
In this list, Katherine Drury leading
not only her class but the entire
school with a percentage ot 96.6.
The Freshmen have S In this list,
the Seniors S. and the Juniors but
one. Following are the ten students
who have highest averages and rank
ot each:
Katherine Drury, 96.6; Essie
Reams. 94.76; Madge Rowell, 94.6;
Clarence Mertsching, 94 1-8; Olive
Bhaun. 94; Esther Adamson, 93.76;
Cecil Bowlin. 9S.75; Lila Maddox.
S.76; Virginia Pancake, 93; Blanche
Rowell. 93.
Average scholarship for the school,
86.3 per cent.
We venture to say there will be a
change In this line-up next time.
Watch for the report.

WHAT AN OLD GKESER Ml.
There was an old geeser, he
had a lot ot sense. He started
up a business on a dollar eighty
cents. The dollar for stock and
the eighty for an ad brought him
three lovely dollars In a day,
by dad. Well, he bought more
goods and a little more. space,
and he played that system with
a smile on his face. The cds-
tomers flocked to his two-by-
four, and soon he had to hustle
for a regular store. Up on the
square where the people pass,
he gobbled up a corner that was
all plate glass. He fixed up the
window with the best he had and
told them all about It In a full
page ad. He soon had 'em com-
lug, and he never never quit, and
and he didn't cut down his ads
one darn whit. And he kept
things humming in the town
ever since, and everybody calls
him the merchant prince. Some
say it's luck, but that's all bunk,
why, he was doing business when
thn tlmea were nunk. People
have to purchase and the geeser
was wise for he knew the way
to get 'em waa to advertise. Ex.
