Wyman and Dolly Hodges motored to
Redmond Saturday afternoon in the
Ehlpp car.
Mrs. Norris Morgan received a tel
egram from her son, Harry Farns
worth, saying that he was leaving

Miss Eva Jackson returned to
Prineville Saturday and is again m
member of the faculty of Crook
County High.
Miss Edith McMurray returned on
Monday from Tacoma, Washington,
where she has been visiting relatives
for two weeks.
James Prose came In this week
with a bunch of cattle from Sellars
Marsh and took them out to E. T.

Mrs. T. N. Balfour, who has been
visiting relatives at Paulina the past
month, returned to her home at The
Dalles, Thursday.
Dr. E. O. Hyde has gone to Red
mond where he will continue bis
practice in the absence of Dr. Hosch
who is in the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Guy Haines, Ray
Grullich and Miss Thelma Irwin com
posed a party of motorists from Port
land, who spent Sunday in Prineville.
Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Stearns recently
received a telegram from their son,
Lieutenant Carey Stearns, that he
was leaving Camp Jackson, probably

The many friends of Miss Cather
ine Conway will regret to hear of her
serious illness. Miss Conway under
went an operation recently at St.
Vincent's hospital In Portland.
Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Charlton of
Powell Butte were in the city Tues
day. Mrs. Charlton attended the
Liberty Loan meeting which was ad
dressed by A. G. Clark of Portland.
Wm. Bogue and daughter, Mrs.
A. L. Adams, who has been visiting
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. T.
Bogue, for several weeks, have re
turned to their home at Hiawatha
Kansas.
Chester Wilcox of Salem died of
. pneumonia at Camp Fremont, Cali
ornia, on August 26. Mr. Wilcox and
Miss Nell Sykes of Salem were to
have been married at the conclusion
of the war.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hatley, of
Sumpter, who have been visiting Mrs.
Hatley's sister, Mrs. J. E. Stewart,
returned home Saturday. They were
accompanied as far as Howard by Mr. j
and Mrs. J. E. Stewart and daughter
Lois. Mr. and Mrs. Hatley may return
and spend the winter here.

Lewis yesterday.
