As there will he about 13,000,000. men to be handled during t.lie one day It Is up to the Individual and not to the government to see that he Is on the list, or suffer the penalty. It is the largest list of men ever registered by any nation lu a single day, and will demonstrate to the war ring nations something of the strength of America that has not yet been drawn upon. Jr., who has been Intralning at San Francisco for the past month, has been transferred to Camp Lewis. Mrs. George Nicolal and children returned Friday morning from Seat tle. The Nicolai children have spent the sumer with their grandmother. W. H. Peck and wife of Culver pas sed through the city Sunday on their way to the Frank Hoffman ranch, .where they spent the day visiting. H. A. Kelly. Arthur Bimdy, W. R. Walace and C. Bryan left Saturday 1 for Lost Creek on the McKenzio, where they will hunt for a few days. Mrs. I. Michel was brought back to Prineville from Portland the last of the week, where she has been for medical attention. Her condition Is considered quite critical. Construction was started on the stock yards at the railway terminal adjoining the city the first of the week. They will be completed to the point where stock shipments can be received during the next week or ten days. The Sunday school Interest waa good last Sunday and one more ses sion will bring us into September, when the people will begin to returtn from the vacation season. On coming over from the church Sunday morning after services, the pastor found a moat delicious lunch prepared and spread before him on the table. On examination hn found the name ot one ot the oldest and most beloved house-keepers of Prine ville. We wish to express our appre ciation for such kindness. The Business End of tho Church will be the theme for Sunday morn ing. In the evening the reception for the out-going soldier boys will be held in the Methodist church. The timber was the Alexander holdings, and some small tracts own ed by original claimants. It is situated on the McKay and Hay Creek water sheds, and much ot It will no doubt be milled in Prine ville during the next ten years.
