The excellence is going to depend upon the care and thought bestowed upon them from the very beginning of the seas on ot growing. Men who are accus tomed to growing prite-winning pro duct begin a year in advance. The oil is chosen and put in the best pos sible condition, the seed Is carefully elected, the young plant1) are wotcn- j ed and the products to be exhibited are chosen long before tiio harvest time. In the fruit district the tree that Is to grow the prize-winning fruit is chosen a year in advance, and the election is made and marked early in the season. The exhibitor will do well to give thought to what con stitutes the stanoard ot excellence. He should know the score card and sel ect the products accordingly. Not in frequently products are chosen prin cipally for their large size, or often one will exhibit an inferior product. When he sees the prize-winning pro duct and knows what is desired, he realizes that he has left better pro ducts at home than those that won the prize. Anyone who intelligently goes and exhibits a good article will find himself well repaid, not by the prize which he wins, but by the edu cational influence upon his town thought and Bystem of farming. ,He will have been enabled also to con tribute something to the success of the farm and to the education ot the community.
