Frank Brosius arrived In the city Sunday from Fort Columbia, on a ten day furlough. Mrs. Mattie Elliott left Sunday for Portland to spend Christmas with her daughter Agnes. Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hedlund were business visitors in the city Satur day from Roberts. Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Lafollette re turned Sunday from a short busi ness trip to Portland. Dale Elkins is spending the holi days in Prineville with his grand mother, Mrs. M. E. Logan. Miss Violet Lister is in Prineville for the holidays. Miss Lister is at tending school at Corvallis. Mrs. R. I. Noll arrived last Thurs day from Canada to visit her mother Mrs. Henry Carlin, of Roberts. Leland and Wilfred Belknap ar rived home Sunday morning and will be here the remainder of the week. Miss Phillips, of Corvallis, accom panied Miss Violet Lister home for Christmas vacation. Mrs. Van Morse and niece, Louise Pepper, are in the city for the holi days from Redmond. Dr. and Mrs. J. H. Hoelscher, of Chicago, are visiting their son, F. F. Hoelscher and family. L. E. McCord arrived yesterday from Colfax, Washington, where he has been during the past year. Walter Lithgow and family spent Christmas at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Brown in this city. Miss Hazel Sullivan returned this morning from Portland where she spent Christmas with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Bowman and daughter, Beulah, are visiting at the home of A. R. Bowman and family. Mrs. Glenn Hendrickson left this morning for Cherokee, Iowa, where she will visit relatives for several weeks. The Baptist Churches and Sunday Schools of this country have under taken to raise one million dollars for Armenian and Syrian relief and an offering will be taken next Sun day, Dec. 30, at the Baptist church. W. Ward. Frank W. Ortnian, of Suplee, re turned from Portland, Saturday, where he had a cancer sueceiwfully removed. Mrs. Ida Prose and daughter Vesta returned lust week from Port land where they have been visiting for several weeks. Miss Kva Jackson, of the Crook County High School faculty, left Saturday for Corvallis to spend the Christmas vacation. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Prose and son Harold returned from Mllwaukle, Oregon, lust Thursday. They have been gone several months. Ml as Audrey Noble Is in the city from Corvallis spending Christmas vacation with her mother and father Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Noble. Roy Price, of Post, brought one hundred and fifty head of cattle to Prineville the first of the week and will feed them near this city. Miss Mable Grant went to Bend yesterday morning and will be em ployed In the manager's office of the Pacific Telephone Company. Sumner Houston came down from Roberta last week. He returned home Saturday accompanied by his sister, Miss Tressla Houston. George F. Kelley returned recent ly from Providence, R. I., where he has been for several weeks. Mra. Kelley and children will be In the east the remainder of the winter. L. C. Fertlg arrived on Christmas day for a visit with hla parents, Rev. and Mrs. T. H. Fertlg. Mr. Fertlg Is official cow tester for King County, Washington, and is a dairy expert. George Frank, who has been em ployed as a blacksmith on the Ochoco Project, was operated on at the Home Hospital on Sunday, and is doing well regardless of the fact that his condition was critical. Rev. F. C. Laslette, who was con fined to the house last week through sickness, has recovered sufficiently to be out again and will preach at Grizzly school house next Sunday, Dec. 30, at 2:30 p. m, The Auto Evangelization Society of the Baptist Church put into oper ation last June has been conducting services every Sunday somewhere. Next Sunday they go to the Irriga tion Dam and conduct a gospel serv ice at 2:30. The Sunday following they' will go to Camp No. 18. J. E. Stewart and wife, brother of Mayor D. F. Stewart of this place, arrived the first of the week from Nampa, Idaho, and will visit with relatives here a few days. Mr. Stewart lived in Prineville seventeen years ago, and says he sees many improvements here since that time. He will visit relatives near Eugene and at Toledo, Oregon, before re turning to Idaho. Portland Is far behind the state In Its percentage of enrollment and from Portland headquarters today comes the statement that the drive will continue there until their part of the total Is raised. Of the total raised in Crook Coun ty, more than one-half was reported from workers In Prineville although this of course Includes Individuals secured for membership from all parts of the county, who were In the city doing Christmas shopping. Oregon has led the nation In mat ters of this nature, and Crook Coun ty is at the top of the list of coun ties in the state. The Christmas Red Cross membership drive Is no exception to this rule. METHODIST EPISCOPAL ( lll ltl H Wan Shown In Portland Second Time Laxt Week "Polly of the Circus," one of the most popular pictures for children that has ever been taken, will be shown Friday and Saturday at the Lyric. It is an eight reel production, In which an entire circus was used to develop the plot. It appeared at ' the Majestic in Portland from September 15 to 21, and was rebooked for three days be cause of its quality, at the Sunset, in Portland, where it appeared last week. KKVE.ME OH( Kit IIKItK Will Assist People With Income Tax Blanks A revenue officer will be at the court house in Prineville from Jan uary 11 to January 21, during which time he will assist all Interested parties in filling out their Income tax blanks. It Is incumbent on the individual to call upon him during this period and answer the ques tions. It Is estimated that the number In this county who will come under this law will be about 174. The sermons being given by Dr. E. P. Lyon are of an exceptionally high order. The Christmas occasion and the rainy nights reduced the size of the audiences, but last even ing showed a return to the former attendance. The short program given by the primary and Junior departments of the Sunday school last Sunday morning was not lacking in quality. At the close of the program each member of the school wits given an orange. This small treat was given on account of the call to aid in feeding the Armenians. We are glad to report a good offering for this cause. The theme for Sunday morning will be: "The Good Resolution." Last Sunday morning we were glad to meet four new families who have recently moved to this place. We trust that all wi,ll feel at home with us. We welcome all citizens and strangers to our services. He will stop off at Kansas City and St. Louis to visit relutlves and from there to Indian apolis where he represents the Phi Delta Theta Alumni, of Portlund, at their national convention, Dec. 31st. On his return he will spend a few days In New York, Washington, D.
