Wlnier road hearing ordered continued until April 4, 1917, at 10 o'clock. In the matter of small change In Milo Stone road: Order made giving Logan Broth ers permission to make small change nd stock pass in Milo Stone road, provided grade Is not materially In creased nor distance lengthened more than a few rods. In the matter of bridge near Barnes ranch: Ordered that Harry Barnes be authorized to construct bridge on county road near Barnes ranch. In the matter of building railing on each side of grade approaching west end of Crooked river bridge proposed by Commercial Club: Ordered that E. T. Luthy attend to matter of getting lights on bridge leading out of town across Crooked River and constructing railings on both sides of grade leading up to west end of same. March 8 In the matter of Clerk's state ment of warrants drawn on Rodent Bounty Fund: Ordered that Clerk's statement of expenditures of Rodent Bounty Fond be approved and accepted. In the matter of "petition for the appointment of Wade Huston to the office of County Surveyor: It appearing that the "County At torney being of the opinion that no vacancy exists in the office of Coun ty Surveyor' no action is taken. In the matter of Investigation of scalps being presented from Des chutes County: It appearing that rabbit scalps are being presented from Deschutes County, certain warrants are being withheld and Commissioner Lathy be instructed to investigate. March 9 In the matter of setting aside funds for County Agriculturist: Ordered that Seven Hundred Dol lars ($700.00) be set aside from the general fund, the same being 2-5 of the amount agreed upon to be paid jointly by Deschutes and and Crook Counties, for County Agriculturist, the other 3-5 to be paid by Deschutes County. Hatter of claim for tubercular cattle: Claim filed by S. D. Mustard for 1187.50 Indemnity for 7 head of tubercular cattle slaughtered under 1913 law. Order setting Tuesday, the third day of April, 1917, at the hour of 10 o'clock a. m. as time of hearing. In the matter of the application for franchise: Ordered that franchise be granted. Matter of Clerk's report of war rants drawn for Coyote Bounties Report of County Clerk in regard to coyote bounties, received, ap proved and ordered filed. Total amount for January and February $544.50. March 10 In the matter of Conant Basin road: It is herby ordered that County Surveyor make the most practicable survey for road from Conant Basin to Crooked River. Survey to be made on the date agreed upon by the people of Conant Basin. In the matter of Process Bond: Ordered that Process Bond given by E. B. Knox, sheriff, in the amount of $5,000.00 be approved, accepted and filed. In the matter of annual report: Ordered that annual report of road expenditures submitted by Commissioner Blanehard be ap proved, accepted and ordered filed. In the matter of Oregon-Califor nia State Highway Report: Ordered that report submitted by H. J. Overturf of expenditures on Oregon-California State Highway be approved, accepted and ordered filed, County Printing: Ordered that County Officials award all county printing possible to printers within Crook County, provided rates can be secured as reasonable as elsewhere. Advertising for wood bids: Ordered that County Clerk be in structed to advertise for bids for 200 cords of wood, 120 cords to be delivered to Crook County Court House and 80 cords to be delivered to Crook County High School. Widow's Pension: Ordered Clerk be instructed to draw warrants to Mrs. Morris (Wid ows Pension) at the rate of $10.00 per month back premium. Money advanced to employes at various times as shown on his ledger amount $163.69: Clerk ordered to draw warrants for same. Eight corporations and 11 Individuals were named in an indictment returned by the United States grand Jury for alleged conspir acy and unlawful combination In re straint of interstate commerce and In violation of the Sherman anti trust act, In the buying, selling, manufac turing and shipping of creamery and dairy products. Leading dairy corporations of Ida ho, Utah, Washington, Oregon and In dividuals connected with them were charged with "combination Id re straint of interstate trade and to ob tain a monopoly thereof." A widespread conspiracy is charged to ruin competitors, fix prices to the producer and the consumer and reap excessive and unwarranted profits. BAN ON WHISKY PROPOSED California Grape Growers Will Indro dues Anti-Saloon Bill. San Francisco. Addressing the Commonwealth Club, Frank Swett, president of the Grape Growers' Pro tective association, said a bill to elim inate saloons and stop the sale of high proof liquors in California would be put before the legislature at the last half of the two-part session. Outlining the proposed measure, the speaker said the law would bar all whiskey, gin, brandy, vermouth and other ardent liquors, but would place no limit on alcohol contents of wines and beers. It would close the saloons, but permit the sale of sealed bottles of wine and beer in retail stores, of which there may be not mors than one for every 2000 persons.
